Milton Erickson was an American psychiatrist and psychologist specializing in medical hypnosis and family therapy. He is known for developing a unique approach to hypnotherapy, often referred to as “Ericksonian hypnotherapy” or “the Milton Erickson method.”
His approach emphasized the use of indirect suggestion, metaphor, and storytelling to communicate with patients in a way that bypassed their conscious resistance.
He believed that individuals should be treated holistically, taking into account their entire life experiences, and not just their symptoms.
