Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) is a multidisciplinary field of study that examines the interactions between the brain, the immune system, and behavior.

PNI researchers investigate how psychological processes, such as stress and emotion, can affect the immune system and how immune system activity can affect psychological processes.

The field encompasses the study of both psychological and physiological mechanisms and their interactions. PNI has broad implications for our understanding of health and disease, as well as for the development of new treatments for conditions such as chronic pain, cancer, and autoimmune disorders.

Mental imagery, also known as visualization, is the process of creating mental images in the mind. This can involve visualizing objects, scenes, or even abstract concepts.

Mental imagery is often used in sports training, where athletes use visualization techniques to imagine themselves successfully performing a task, such as hitting a home run or making a winning shot.

Mental imagery can also be used in other areas, such as medicine, where it can be used as a tool for pain management and psychotherapy. Some studies have also suggested that mental imagery may have a positive effect on the immune system, but more research is needed to confirm this.
