SaaS — Software as a Service, from idea to execution
2 min readJan 21, 2023
The late — and great — copywriter Gary Halbert said it well: “First, found your market, and then, make your offer”. What this means is, if you have a brilliant idea for a Software app, it is of the utmost importance to test if there is a market for it.
Once you have that defined, then these are the steps you can follow towards owning a profitable SaaS app:
- Idea validation: This step involves researching and testing the feasibility of the idea by gathering feedback from potential customers and conducting market research to determine the potential demand for the product.
- Market and competitive analysis: This step involves studying the market and identifying the target audience, as well as researching competitors and their offerings to determine how to differentiate the product.
- Product development: This step involves creating a detailed product plan, designing and building the product, and testing it to ensure it meets the needs of the target audience.
- Marketing and sales: This step involves creating a marketing plan and building a sales strategy to reach and acquire customers.
- Launch and scaling: After the product is developed and tested, it can be launched, and scaling efforts can begin to reach and acquire more customers.
- Continual improvement and iteration: After launch, it is important to continuously gather customer feedback, analyze usage data, and iterate on the product to improve and evolve it over time.
As you can see, my dear reader, a successful SaaS launch involves a combination of market research, product development, and customer acquisition strategies, as well as ongoing iteration and improvement.
Stay tuned!
